Some people call me Billy, The Flag Guy. I was a teenager during the Vietnam era and, although I did not serve, I knew people who did, and, unfortunately, some who didn’t come home. I remember feeling confused and angry seeing how returning soldiers were disrespected and despised during that time. Regardless of the politics, these soldiers had risked their lives to serve our country and deserved to be welcomed home as heroes. Those emotions have never left me. In later years, as a father of three and a grandfather of seven, I decided to “do my part” by encouraging people to fly our country’s flag, and to be an example to family, friends, and ESPECIALLY to younger generations.
